A place for kids to simply be kids.

Homelessness is especially tough on kids. Instead of playing with their friends, they are transitioning from shelter to shelter. They wait while their parents seek help in securing housing or employment. They wait for a place to have fun. They wait for a place to call home.

The Family Place understands kids’ needs. We offer specialized programming for children and youth of all ages. At any given time we may have 1-20 children participating in our child enrichment programs. In a special room designed by the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota, our staff provides one-on-one attention, promotes healthy interpersonal skills, lead creative arts and crafts projects and teach reading and math skills.

The Family Place also ensures that kids stay in school. In partnership with the St. Paul Public Schools Title One Program: Education for Homeless Children, all school-age children are enrolled in and attend school. To provide continuity and stability we make every effort to keep children enrolled in the school they attended prior to homelessness. School buses pick up and drop off the children at the center.

Eat, rest, play, learn, laugh. Today we want you to just be a kid.

"The first thing a child needs to know is that there is someone who adores him. ...in the early years, that good relationship is the child's whole world." - Dr. Marty Farrell Erickson
