Who we are and why we're here.
Since 2001, The Family Place has offered safety, opportunities and encouragement to help move homeless families with children from despair to hope, from uncertainty to stability.
The Family Place welcomes up to 40 people a day into a warm environment where all of guest families are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
As the only day shelter serving families with children, The Family Place serves as a central hub for Ramsey County families needing assistance. Services are provided by The Family Place staff and Ramsey County Human Services personnel, working together to:
- meet the basic needs of food, shelter and safety during daytime hours
- nurture children and provide them with enrichment activities during their stay
- place families in emergency overnight shelter and help locate permanent or transitional housing
- assist families with applications for available assistance programs to help them regain stability in their lives
The Family Place is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as specified in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
