Taking care of the basics.
Our facility provides a safe place to be during the day, including a family room where guests can relax or use the phone or computers to work on their job search. There are showers, laundry facilities, and lockers for storing personal items.
The Family Place employs a fulltime cook who serves two hot meals and two snacks each weekday. In 2009, the The Family Place served over 23,000 meals to over 1200 families. We rely on the Second Harvest Food Shelf for much of our food and always welcome grocery donations - can you help?
On weekends we utilize a volunteer-driven approach. Volunteers from area faith-based groups, service organizations, and corporations make sure this program thrives and serves our guest families.
Approximately 1,500 volunteers served meals and assisted our staff with other projects in 2009 - this represents nearly 5,334 hours of service.
